Today I went dorm shopping with bro

shopping details )

Then we went to get Dad a birthday present: Happy Birthday, Daddy! (Seriously, this is what he wanted. I appreciate relatives with cheap taste.) And now I've got to figure out how to make a cake with the very few ingredients we have around... I may just have to give up and go shopping again, ugh. I hope Dad and Mom have a great time in Disney on their birthday/anniversary trip. I love my parents, even though I complain.  It comes with being twenty-two I suppose. 27 years of marriage. More power to ya.

Bro thoughts )
I also got the first HP book in paperback, which irks me. But, it was cheaper that way. So, I shall commence reading after the cake is in the oven. I originally thought I'd listen to the audio version, but I saw the download price and I nearly swallowed my tongue. Not to mention it was frickin' 8 hours long. No. Just, no. So, me reading a bendy paperback book how many years late?

Adventures in Car Crap

So, today, I went to start my car  so that I could get to work on time (I was already running a tad behind), and it didn't start. I tried again. No Luck. I ran back inside (running a little more behind) and told bro to take me to work. He then decided it was necessary to change his entire outfit before driving me to my job. (Okay, okay, so he was putting on his belt, socks/shoes, watch, getting his wallet, etc. You get the idea) We finally get to my job (miraculously on time), and I realize that I have no money and no lunch... I end up eating a candy bar for dinner. My boss has under staffed us for close, and joy of joys, we have customers hanging around thirty minutes after our official close time. My mom (who very nicely drove out to pick me up from work) is stuck outside in my dad's SUV with his work crap that he needs, while we close the store late. Long story short, my entire family made it to the store today at some point or other.

How much longer do I have to work retail?

Things to do once I get an actual honest to God (if modest, I'm not naive) paycheck:

1) Get new Laptop before Seymour here explodes
2) Get new car before Minnie explodes
3) Move out of my parents house before I explode

Obviously, these will not happen all at once or even in close proximity, but if I am able to accomplish even one of these by the end of this year? *dances*

The less explosions the better.

*odd celebratory sound*

  • Jul. 15th, 2009 at 10:15 AM
yeah
I just passed my FINAL test. *dances embarrassingly* And then got home and got my assignment for the Time in Flux ficathon..... *incomprehensible nervous gurgling*

But I'm in a such a good mood that the nervous is overshadowed by the squee.

Also, I feel like going to see a movie, today. Obviously, I will be avoiding HP like the plague, 'cause I already told a certain someone that I wouldn't see it until I'd read the books, and really the theaters will be packed. So, I think I might get my Simon Pegg squee on and be the oldest person on the audience not attached to an eight year old, and see Ice Age 3. I'm told it was much better than the first two, to which I responded "Duh! Simon Pegg."

Or, I might just continue my DW marathon, and bake cookies...

After a day of refolding the same display over, and over, and over again, I have a great idea!

You unfold it, you bought it.

Brilliant, eh?

Exam Completed/ Defeated

  • Jul. 1st, 2009 at 12:00 PM
Q
How do people fail these? I must understand this. Teachers that I have had in the past failed these exams multiple times...

I have the solution to crummy teachers:

Don't let them retake the exams.

Holy crap. You'd have to be a moron with a hangover.

Also, I wrote my essay on Star Trek... I'm not even kidding. I was intellectual on my subject area exam. On this one? I just had fun. It was a well put together, coherent, organized essay, it was just centered around Star Trek. Because I'm that awesome.

Finally, someone is intimidated by all of this, lol.

Mainly, I just walked around, very conspicuously following them. They were a couple of teens and when security got there, they cut and ran.

I recovered merchandise! Hurray!

My boss is in the habit lately of posting me at the door to turn away customers at the end of the night. I live by the motto :"I shall not be moved." I understand why she does it, as I'm 5'8" and over 240 lbs, so I can intimidating if I want to be. Mostly, I use my sympathetic voice, apologize a lot and plant my feet. My co-workers were laughing today because I wouldn't let a lady come in to buy flip-flops. I take my job very seriously. Also I wanted to leave, so there's that.

That quote has been in my head all day. Stupid AFI and its lists...

Aaaanyway, I went into work tonight! Yay! Very little dizziness transpired! Yay! I was (and am) exhausted, but I do believe these horse pills they've given me are working. Seriously, these things are huge.

Someone at my job knew what Doctor Who was. All the good ones are married.

Now, I have to go to bed so I can test tomorrow morning. EEP!

So the question is...

I'm wondering if I'll be able to make it to work today. I feel mildly okay right now... Spoke too soon. I hate this in and out dizzy nausea thing. I can carry on a conversation just fine and then suddenly feel like I'm gonna upchuck. Didn't help that they stuck me on the denim wall yesterday. I kept having to bend over and pick things up and... well, dizzy is really fun when you're surrounded by jeans and mannequins. I knocked off a mannequin arm yesterday. It was random, and it shouldn't have been possible. That's when I knew that my walk was effected. I probably looked like I was drunk. Just glad the boss knew what was wrong with me.

I hate missing work. I'm already poor, people.  I can't afford to miss more.  GAH!

8 hour work day Woo-Hoo!

Guys if I don't  feel significantly better in like thirty minutes, I'm calling out.

Went to little bro's drama banquet. Little Bro won best Thespian, best original play (2nd year in a row), and best supporting actor. He is, frankly, awesome.

Hee.

Also, people asked me today where our $1flip-flops were *headdesk* ONE DAY ONLY, people.
